When can I get Mahaul?

Soon. It's in testing now, and it's coming to the App Store and Google Play. Join the waitlist and we'll email you when it's out.

Is Mahaul on iPhone?

It will be. Mahaul is coming to both the App Store and Google Play.

Is it free?

Yes. Every feature is free for everyone, including Super Waves and messaging your matches. There's no premium plan and there are no ads.

Which cities is it in?

All of India. You'll find events wherever the scene is: Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Goa, Pune, Hyderabad and more.

What kind of events are on it?

Electronic music only: techno, house, trance and psytrance, progressive, drum & bass, bass and dubstep, downtempo and desi electronic. Club nights, raves, warehouse parties, rooftops, beach parties and festivals.

Is Mahaul a dating app?

It's a social app for people who go to the same nights. You might find a crew for a festival or someone to share a cab with. Waves work like a match, and friends are separate.

Can I see who waved at me?

You see how many people waved, like “6 people waved at you”, but not who. If you wave back at someone who waved at you, it's a match: you both find out, and you can message each other.

Can people see where I am?

No. If you turn on location, it's rounded to about 1 km and people see a distance like “2 km away”, nothing more. For Out this week, friends only see the event, venue or area you pick. Tap Stop sharing my location at any time and it's deleted.

Why first names only?

You're meeting people from a night out, and a first name and an @username are enough to say hi. Your surname stays hidden, even from search.

Why do you need my phone number?

To sign you in with a one-time code, and to keep bots and banned users out. Nobody else sees it.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings → Your data → Delete account and type DELETE to confirm. You're signed out and your account is closed straight away. It's permanently erased 30 days later, with your photos, posts, plans, friends and chats; sign in before then to restore it. Here are the details, including how to ask by email if you can't use the app.

Apply for an organizer page in the app. We check each one by hand, and verified organizers get the Official badge. Here's how it works.

What does “mahaul” mean?

Mahaul (माहौल) is Hindi and Urdu for atmosphere, the feel of a place. As in, “Kal raat ka mahaul kamaal tha.”
